slant - 기울어지다, 비스듬해지다, 기울게[비스듬하게] 하다

Sunlight slanted through the window.

 

fern - 양치식물

tall - 키가 큰, 높음

grass - 풀, 잔디

The ground was coverd with ferns and tall grass.

 

winding - 구불구불한

stream - 개울, 시내

sloping - 경사진, 비탈진, 비스듬한

in the distance -  먼 곳에(= far away)

There was a winding stream, a sloping hill, and valcanoes in the distance.

 

glide - 미끄러지듯 가다

down - 아래로

base - 맨 아래 부분

The Pteranodon glided down to the base of the tree.

 

still - 조용한, 고요한

It landed on the ground and stood very still.

 

get loud - 소리가 커지다, 시끄러워지다, 소란스러워지다

And then the wind got loud.

 

Cretaceous - 백악기의

This flying reptile lived in the Cretaceous Period.

 

vanish - 사라지다, 없어지다

It vanished 65million years ago with the dinosaurs.

 

drop - 훌쩍 내리다, 뛰어 내리다, 내려가다

Annie dropped to the ground.

 

step up - 앞으로 나오다, 앞으로 나가다

boldly - 대담하게

She stepped boldly up to the ancient creature.
